Terms of Service

Effective August 2, 2026. Plain language on purpose — the same voice as the rest of the site.

1. What CardSpec Is

CardSpec ranks credit cards by Net Annual Value (NAV): deterministic math over each card's published terms and the spending profile you enter. The site is an informational tool. Using it means you accept these terms. If you don't accept them, don't use the site.

2. Not Financial Advice

CardSpec is not a financial advisor, broker, credit-repair service, or card issuer, and nothing on this site is financial, legal, or tax advice. A NAV figure is arithmetic on published terms and the inputs you chose — it is not a recommendation tailored to your circumstances. Your credit profile, approval odds, existing relationships, and a hundred other personal facts are outside the math. Decisions about applying for or using credit are yours.

3. Accuracy, and Its Limits

We work hard to get card data right: figures are extracted from issuers' own published pages, cross-checked by a verification pipeline, and cards that fail those checks are withheld from the rankings rather than shown with doubtful numbers. Our methodology explains the whole system.

But issuers change terms whenever they like, and extraction is never perfect. So: the site is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or availability. Always verify current terms on the issuer's site — every figure we show links back to its source — before applying for anything.

4. How We Make Money

Some links to card issuers are affiliate links: if you apply through them, we may be paid a commission. Compensation never affects rankings. NAV is the same deterministic formula for every card, whether or not the issuer pays us anything, and we say so publicly in our methodology. Affiliate relationships are disclosed here in accordance with FTC guidance.

5. We Are Not the Issuer

Card applications happen on issuers' sites, under issuers' terms. We are not a party to any agreement between you and a card issuer, and issuer names, logos, and card art appear here only to identify the products being compared. All trademarks belong to their owners.

6. Acceptable Use

You may use the site normally: browse, compare, calculate, share links. You may not scrape, bulk-download, or systematically extract the underlying dataset, probe, overload, or interfere with the service, or misrepresent CardSpec content as your own. If you want the data, ask us — a licensed data product is something we actually offer.

7. Our Content

The site's original content — rankings, analysis, methodology text, design, and code — belongs to CardSpec. You're welcome to quote or link with attribution.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CardSpec is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the site, nor for decisions you make in reliance on it. Our total liability for any claim is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

9. Changes

We may update these terms as the product evolves. The effective date above always reflects the current version, and material changes will be noted on this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

11. Contact

CardSpec is in beta. A contact address will be published as we exit beta.
